Miyari (Hi), I'm Elaine!
I’m a Borikua (Puerto Rican) and Kisqueyan (Dominican) of indigenous Taíno heritage. I have a passion for designing games and have been professionally making them for nearly a decade. I focus on crafting core mechanics, features, and systems that are focused on player agency and accessibility. I enjoy level design and creating spaces that encourage exploration, strategy and flexibility for different player types. My design philosophy aligns with systemic, player-centric, and iterative design.
I’m one of the co-founders and President of Latinx In Gaming, a 501c3 non-profit organization creating a community and advocacy for Latine game industry professionals in the US and across Latin America. I lead the organization’s strategies and serve as laison for our partners, sponsors, and community members.
In 2023, I founded the independent game studio, Midnight Hour Games, to develop passion projects where I can express myself creatively outside my professional day work.
I have a heart for young developers and a desire to give back to the community. I'm always looking for ways to teach game design and development to encourage the pursuit of STEM fields. I mentor developers in my free time and volunteer for organizations like Code Coven, Cal Marginalized Genders in Gaming, Gameheads, and PRGDA.
